10mm AWI
I've had a pack of the Pendragon 10mm figures lying around for ages. Well, several packs actually so I thought I'd give them another go and paint up an British infantry Battalion for the AWI. This lot are wearing the roundabout hat and at the right distance look pretty effective - I'm not sure that close up photos do them any justice. I'll aim to do a 50 man Battalion, take photos and then nearly straight to eBay. I'd be interested to hear what people think would be a fair price. It takes about an hour to do 5 figures but there is no way I could do them as a bigger amount in a sitting.

Ironsides
To compensate for all that purple I thought that an outing for these no nonsense heavies was in order. Renegade figures, they are meant to represent Essex's Horse. They look and weigh the part and I cannot help but feel that this should be represented by some sort of special factor being added to their dice rolls if they come up against some weedy plastic types.
On a separate note I've had a few enquiries as to whether I do commissions? The simple answer is yes I do. Prices are sensible - you'll get a good standard of figure and a fully finished and based figure. The work on this site is representative of what you would be getting. Please drop me a line if you are interested at philipjhatton@gmail.com

Brooke's Regiment
If you do ECW then you have to do this regiment. It's almost the law. Why? Because they are the ones who wear purple. Lord Brooke's Regiment who fought at Edgehill and Newbury 1 for Parliament.
Too much purple can be a little overpowering so I kept it reasonably spare but there is no avoiding the colours/standards which tend to dominate. Anyway I was happy with them and I now have a pot of partially used purple paint which I doubt will find its way onto too many other uniforms. Next up is the London Blue trained bands dressed in an entirely unoriginal blue but there you go.

ACW Re-enactors
We went to the Chilterns Open Air Museum on Easter Monday for an afternoon out. If you haven't been it's well worth your time to see a range of historical buildings including a very nostalgia inducing prefab. I remember rows and rows of these along Terbouba Road near the Southampton Sports Centre in the 60's. Surprisingly spacious inside and its sobering to think that similar square footage in London these days would cost you about a quarter of a million.
Anyway, also on hand were a group of ACW re-enactors. I hope they'll be pleased to hear that they got the foresightpaint junior vote over the ECW re-enactors at Basing House. They were great. On a bitterly cold day they were happy to field all sorts of questions and put on an enthusiastic demonstration. They looked the part and I hope they don't mind the photos below. I din't catch the name of the society but if any readers know any of the participants then please pass on my thanks to them.
